The unexpected outcome of an ill-fated stab at bringing order to the chaos of my record collection: I got as far as grouping together releases from three labels, then got distracted by making a compilation...
King Street Sounds is a New York House label that takes its name from the address of the Paradise Garage. I can't say I've bought any recent releases, but the catalogue stretches back to the mid 90s and contains some proper bangers... Kerri Chandler's Hallelujah and the MAW mixes of Mondo Grosso - Souffles H to name but two.
Neither of those feature here (they are on Tony Humphries' 1996 "Mix The Vibe" label comp). There is however some tasty Garage (US vocal House, not DJ Luck and MC Neat) and the odd NY drama moment amongst various deep, smooth or bumpin' dubs.
I was going to add a paragraph about this being the first mix recorded on my Rane rotary mixer, but you'd probably think I was talking about electronic kitchen gadgetry. So, turn it up LOUD and enjoy. xx
