A while ago my wife said "why don't you do a normal mix...no funny business". I could see her point. Too many times have I decided to drop a novelty record at an inappropriate moment, however my claims that this was 'adding character and excitement' to a mix were faltering.
So, with this in mind I went back to the basics of mixing, which I'd overlooked in recent years. I spent some time revisiting the practice of beat-mixing to try and blend one track into the next in a seamless fashion - rather than hastily chopped in.
The result of all this noodling, is probably my first decent mix of predominantly house music with minimal 'funny business' - unless you include the accapellas dotted in here and there (in a true bootleg style).
The mix was done on 2 turntables and original vinyls with no edits.
Hope you enjoy it!
