Welcome to another episode of the Bleepity Bloop podcast. This week we open up the Japanese Dance Files to focus on Capsule, a band made up of singer Toshiko Koshijima and producer Yasutaka Nakata. While Capsule has released 13 albums since 2001, this podcast focuses on Nakata's work from 2006 onwards when he switched from Japanese Shibuya-kei (jazz-pop) to dance music.
Capsule's current sound is all about pounding kicks and aggressive saw-wave synth lines and is some of heaviest bloop to regularly hit the top 10 on Japanese music charts. Sadly, Capsule still remains practically unknown outside of Japan. This podcast includes some of the best of Capsule and also features tracks Nakata produced for other acts like Perfume, MEG, and Kyary Pamyu Pamyu.
