1 The Cremation of Sam McGee, dramatic poem by Robert Service.
2 White Man Falling by Mike Stocks. Bk 2 ch 2. Swami is recuperating in the mountains with his daughter Kamala. His stay there is paid for by local businessman, DDR, who like many others, has become a believer in Swami’s status as the new guru ‘swamiji’. When he came round from his coma, Swami was bemused to find many now believed he walks with god, but he welcomes this retreat. The fact that he rarely speaks adds to his seemingly spiritual aura.
Meanwhile, Swami’s wife Amma is keen to marry their eldest daughter Jodhi to Mohan, the computer-geek son of Mr & Mrs P. The engagement was blighted by events surrounding the death of the white man. But wedding prospects are revived when Swami becomes ‘Swamiji.’ Jodhi and Mohan are going to the cinema, heavily chaperoned by Mohan’s brother Devan, and Jodhis sister Pushpa.
