Here we have it: The first in my "Downtempo Groove Journey" series, featuring some of best downtempo, trip-hop, nu-jazz, ambient, and various other laidback subgenres. The tracks are being played on actual CD decks and turntables, with very little post-production.
I decided to start and end this one with Portishead, since that's the band that got me into trip-hop over 15 years ago. That mix of "Glory Box" at the end is the rare Mudflap Mix. Other notable tracks include the ultra-rare Tricky remix of Garbage's "Milk," the Organica Remix of Billie Holiday's classic rendition of "Summertime," and my own remix of Jette-Ives' "In the Presence of..." (DJ Badger Dirty Dead Hooker Deterioration), for which I received a very kind e-mail from Jette Kelly herself.
I look forward to offering numerous more "Groove Journeys" in the future... and especially look forward to reading your comments. Thanks very much!
